The first Original Grate Grabber was invented more than 15 years ago out of necessity. My wife and I love to grill outdoors but she often struggled to prepare the grill and smoker. She complained the whole task of grilling was messy and her wrists were too weak to lift heavy grill grates with the grill tools available at that time.
So, I set out to solve both problems by designing a multipurpose tool that can be used with both hands for better control in lifting heavy grates, spreading hot coals as well as adding wood to smoke boxes without getting dirty or exposing arms and hands to high temperatures.
It never occurred to me that others shared this same problem until a few neighbors and fellow campers asked about the tool when they would see it in use. Grill grates have become bigger and heavier over the years as more manufacturers are using cast iron grates. Unfortunately, most grill tools can't safely support the heft of these newer, weightier grates. Our tool certainly delivers when it comes to heavy grates and has worked so perfectly throughout the past 15 years, that we decided to patent and manufacture The Original Grate Grabber for everyone to enjoy.
